This is the second in our series on ‘Loving Yourself’ – right in time for Valentine’s Day ! So, having made a conscious decision, an intention to become happy and to love yourself for who you are, you are well on your way to living a happier and more fulfilling life?). In the previous blog “I LOVE YOU” we explored the stories we tell ourselves and the impact they have on how we live our life. Did you follow the steps? What did you notice? What changes did you make and how have they made a difference? If you didn’t follow the steps, what’s stopping you? Go back and start loving yourself now! OK so now your voices in your head are telling you something more helpful. The next step is to remind yourself what a lovely person you are. 1) Think about what makes you YOU! What aspects of You do you like? Your bubbly personality? Your kindness, generosity and desire to help people? Maybe you have a different outlook on life or love your funky hair. It can be anything! 2) What have you achieved to date? Celebrate your past; one sure way of making you feel good about yourself is to acknowledge your achievements, no matter how big or small. Look around you and notice your lifestyle, your family, your environment, your career, all of which will be packed with achievements. If you keep a journal, take a look at the entries for a particular time you felt good about yourself. If you really struggle with this, then ask for some help from friends and family to get you started. Other people who are close to us often have a much more positive picture of us than we do ourselves. 3) Be kind to yourself Once you start being kind to yourself, seeing the positives in you and your life, how you feel about yourself will improve. Make it a habit to notice and acknowledge good things when they happen. Build time into your week to do things that make you feel good about yourself. Doing the above will have an amazing impact, your inner state will change and you will feel even better about yourself. Doing the above will have an amazing impact, your inner state will change and you will feel even better about yourself. It’s an upwards spiral. Your mind-set will be more positive, therefore you will see things more positively. You will notice the good things and congratulate yourself for achieving them.
